In addition to the De Beers Millennium Star and The Heart of Eternity, Moussaieff Red Diamond is also shown as part of the Smithsonian's "The Splendor of Diamonds" exhibition.

According to the news, Moussaieff Red was discovered by a farmer in the river Abaetezinho Brazil in 1990, in an area known as Paranaiba Alto, which has a reputation as a source of diamonds large enough and beautifully colored. The rough diamond, believed to be 13. 9 carats (2.78 g).
